Renewable energy video production Standard Gas Case Study

Documenting a World-First Carbon Removal Project

Since 2022, I’ve been the video production partner for Standard Gas, documenting the construction of their pioneering SG100 facility in Norfolk.

Over the course of the project I’ve produced more than 40 films, creating a visual record of one of the world’s first commercial-scale carbon removal technologies.

The videos have become an essential communication tool helping explain a highly technical project in a clear, engaging way.

The Challenge

Standard Gas needed far more than a single promotional video.

The project was evolving every month, with new engineering milestones, construction phases and technical developments to communicate.

Each presenter driven update needed to show genuine progress while making complex engineering easy to understand.

Their audience included

  • International investors
  • Shareholders
  • Industry partners
  • And now the wider public

Huge thank you and and well done for the fabulous work you did in pulling together our shareholders presentation video.  I really am thrilled with the final video.

But beyond the finished product I have, once again, been so impressed with your calm friendly approach, your attention to detail and your professionalism in getting everything just right.

My Solution

Rather than creating one film, we built an ongoing content strategy. Across multiple filming days I’ve captured every stage of the build using a combination of:

✅ Cinematic ground filming

✅ Aerial drone video

✅ FPV drone flights

✅ Time-lapse photography

✅ Professional photography

✅ Interviews

✅ Long form management meetings

✅ Video editing

✅ Motion graphics

This gives Standard Gas a continually growing library of marketing and communication content rather than a single finished film.

The Result

Today we’ve created over 40 videos, documenting the entire construction journey.

The project continues to grow, with each visit adding another chapter to the story.

Working together over several years has also meant I understand the site, the people and the technology, making each production more efficient and more valuable than the last.

Video editors monitor showing the video edit timeline of a Norfolk project. It's a colourful timeline to aid working.

We have now worked with Shaun Lawson for over 2 years and our relationship has been entirely productive and positive. In enabling our Company to secure a video record of the development of our renewable energy project in Norfolk.

Shaun has been flexible and creative, offering ideas, advice, and expertise on planning and execution to deliver work well beyond our expectations.

One particularly impressive quality is Shaun’s ability to work in lockstep with a diverse group of people, putting individuals at ease. Over time, he has become a valued and integral part of our project team.
